40th Anniversary Alumni Spotlight: Michael Summers ’77; Crime-Scene Investigator, Criminal Justice Prof Recognized for “Dedication and Leadership”

Michael Summers ’77 graduated from SUNY Empire State College with a bachelor’s degree in social theory, structure and change from the Niagara Frontier Center.

He is chairman of the department and a professor of criminal justice at Erie Community College and has been recognized by “Cambridge Who’s Who” for dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.

A 41-year veteran of law enforcement, Summers brings a wealth of practical experience to Erie Community College, where he is especially respected for his expertise in crime-scene investigation. He is appreciated in the community for sharing his knowledge and unique perspectives.

In honor of the college's 40th anniversary year, we will spotlight alumni from across the college, celebrating the range of academic, career and personal paths; geographic locations; modes of learning; and life circumstances and experiences supported by a SUNY Empire State College degree program.
